Children's adventure programme Rock Detectives
Gerolstein
The children explore the world of fossils, rocks and minerals. In the Gerolstein Natural History Museum, the little explorers are first shown the three main types of rock - basalt, dolomite and limestone - and are told which minerals and fossils can be found in them. Then the rock detectives set off on an expedition into the world of stones and volcanoes. The path leads across the Kyll River and the Gerolstein Dolomites to the "Geoacker". There, the children dive into the world of stones and find, examine and determine the main types of rock, fossils and minerals. Every child is guaranteed to find minerals and fossils. With sieves, volcanic ash is still sieved off and taken home in plastic jars.
Parents collect the young explorers and their treasures from the geological field below the Pelmer Kasselburg.
The programme can also be booked for groups all year round on request!
