Unique adventure and hiking fun in the Eifel!

On 19 May 2024, the picturesque Eifel in Birgel will open its doors for an unforgettable day of adventure and hiking. From 10:00 to 17:00, the historic Birgel watermill will be offering fascinating mill tours and brewery insights. Children can enjoy activities such as bread baking. The Bielenhof-Alm offers a varied programme for young and old, and in the evening visitors can enjoy an open-air concert with the Isleker Musikanten-Express. Camp Tannenhof enriches the adventure day with the Highland Games for groups of 2-6 people - from axe throwing to cobblestone throwing. The local community of Birgel invites you to take part in guided hikes in the Hirschbergsattel hiking area. Best of all, a free shuttle service connects all event locations.

Historic Birgel Watermill

The historic Birgel watermill opens its doors for an eventful day. From 11 am to 5 pm, visitors can experience the fascination of the mill world up close. Hourly guided tours present all the mills in operation, from traditional water mills to the impressive steam engine. Brewing enthusiasts also have the opportunity to visit the brewery. Children can enjoy activity programmes such as bread baking, muesli and mustard making. The gastronomy areas open at 11.30 am and offer culinary delights until late in the evening. The shop will tempt visitors with its own products, while real treasures can be discovered at the antique and flea market. The musical accompaniment by the Hubertusbläser Birgel between 14:00 and 17:00 creates a festive atmosphere. A shuttle service by horse-drawn carriage and vintage bus will connect the Historic Watermill with the Bielenhofalm and the Tannenhof, where additional entertainment programmes will be offered.

Camp Tannenhof

The 1st adventure and hiking day in Birgel becomes even more exciting with the Highland Games organised by Camp Tannenhof. These traditional Scottish games offer groups of 2-6 people the opportunity to test their strength and show team spirit. The Highland Games programme includes a variety of captivating activities:

  • Axe Throwing: Show off your skills in accurate axe throwing.
  • Tree trunk long throw: Prove your strength and long throwing technique with a tree trunk.
  • Cobblestone pelting: Compete against your fellow competitors and push heavy cobblestones as far as you can.
  • Estimate sawing: Estimate, saw, win - show off your skills in the sawing competition.

The competitions will be concluded with an award ceremony and trophy presentation. Training for the participants will take place from 12:00 to 13:30, followed by the competitions from 14:00 to 18:00. The participation fee is a moderate €20 per group, which guarantees an exciting and affordable community experience. A snack stand with a variety of culinary delights will be available. Thirsty throats can also refresh themselves at the drinks stand. In the evening, enjoy the atmospheric sounds of an open-air concert with Blechbanda and the Isleker Musikanten-Express. The Highland Games not only offer action-packed entertainment, but also create a unique atmosphere of togetherness and sporting competition.

Family adventures at the Bielenhof Alm

The Bielenhof Alm invites its visitors to a varied day full of family entertainment.

  • Fresh potato pancakes: Culinary delights for all visitors.
  • Fresh popcorn, candy floss and crêpes: sweet treats for young and old.
  • Pony rides for children: An unforgettable experience for the youngest guests.
  • Guided tours of the petting zoo: Discover the diversity of the animal world.
  • Bouncy castle: Fun and action for the little ones.
  • Musical entertainment: From 14:00 to 17:00, the Daleiden Music Association will delight us.

In the evening, enjoy the atmospheric sounds of an open-air concert with Blechbanda and the Isleker Musikanten-Express. In addition to these offers, visitors can explore the usual daily business of the Bielenhof Alm, where we provide you with all kinds of specialities from the region and homemade cakes, as well as hot and cold drinks. There is also a petting zoo and a farm shop with regional products on the grounds of the Bielenhof.

Hiking adventures in Birgel - discover, experience, enjoy!
The idyllic municipality of Birgel invites hikers of all ages to enjoy an unforgettable experience in nature. On a route of just over 11 kilometres, the hiking area offers varied passages that are perfectly signposted and suitable for families. The overall hiking route is particularly attractive, leading to the "Bielenhof-Alm" snack station after about half of the route. Trumpets & Trombones - The music spectacle at the Hirschbergsattel in Birgel

Experience a great music event on Sunday, 19 May 2024, at the Hirschbergsattel in Birgel. The idyllic backdrop of the Bielenhof-Alm and Camp Tannenhof will be the setting for Trumpets & Trombones.

Daleiden Music Society / Büdesheim Music Society - 2.00 pm
The music associations from the Eifel region are committed to traditional brass music. Modern pieces of music round off the traditional programme. A great atmosphere and good humour are guaranteed.

Blechbanda - 5.00 pm 
The music starts when the brass band Blechbanda takes to the stage. Enjoy rousing sounds and let yourself be spoilt with music.

Isleker Musikantenexpress - 7.00 pm
The musical journey continues with the Isleker Musikantenexpress. With their unmistakable sound, they create an exuberant atmosphere and guarantee an unforgettable evening.


Relaxed travelling - the shuttle service through the picturesque Eifel region

The historic Kässbohrer Setra S9 promises not only a nostalgic journey through time, but also a comfortable journey between the participating stations. With 150 hp, this classic car is an eye-catcher and a highlight for all those who want to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. The Eifel coachman in a horse-drawn covered wagon guarantees a romantic ride close to nature. A cosy way to experience the beauty of the Eifel and get in the mood for the activities ahead.

Our shuttle service serves all participating partners. The stations Hillesheim, Bielenhof-Alm, Camp Tannenhof, Historische Wassermühle Birgel and Stadtkyll are travelled to at regular intervals. This means you can easily switch between the venues and fully enjoy the wide range of activities on offer during the adventure and hiking day.
