The fountain town of Gerolstein

Which rock strata does Gerolsteiner mineral water pass through?

No two mineral waters are the same. The level and composition of the mineralisation depend on the layers the water has passed through. Gerolsteiner mineral water comes from a source area in the volcanic Eifel that is unique in its geology: especially in the Gerolstein region, carbonic acid of volcanic origin meets dolomite, a calcium- and magnesium-rich limestone, at depth. The carbonated water dissolves valuable calcium and magnesium from the otherwise almost water-insoluble dolomite, turning it into natural mineral water.
