Hillesheim
Volcanoes, water, Eifelosaurus Oberbettingen
The varied circular route leads through Eifel forests, open landscapes, past old quarries and volcanoes, and along small streams. At the Lühwald exposure, several volcanic eruption phases can be distinguished based on volcanic deposits. In the former quarry Wolfskaul, a well-preserved vertebrate skeleton of the Eifelosaurus triadicus was found in 1904. The path goes around the volcanoes Wetschberg, Mühlenberg, and Ruderbüsch.
A concluding refreshment stop is planned.
Registration is requested (by phone, email, or WhatsApp); carpooling will be arranged for transportation, and a contribution to travel costs is requested.
