Die Kalkmagerrasen haben z.T. ein einzigartiges Habitat hervorgebracht, das u.a. von vielen verschiedenen wilden Orchideen zu ihrer Blütezeit gekrönt wird. Auf dieser Exkursion wollen wir uns die frühblühenden Orchideen (Lupe!) näher anschauen, um neben ihrer faszinierend ästhetischen Schönheit die Funktionalität dieser Schönheit zu erkennen. Diese frühblühenden Orchideenarten kommen regional z.T. in großen Beständen in der Eifel vor und müssen den Wetterbedingungen mit Frosteinbrüchen zu dieser Jahreszeit widerstehen können. Es werden je nach Bestandslage verschiedene Standorte besucht.

In addition to an interactive introduction to volcanology and rock science for budding volcanologists, in this workshop we dedicate ourselves to individual accessible volcanoes and what they offer and can be seen in them. We will look for interesting stones and minerals, learn about their differences in colour, hardness and other properties and then know, for example, whether they are of volcanic origin. Sturdy shoes and (weather) appropriate clothing are recommended. Photo equipment, magnifying glass, container for rock samples are useful. It could tell a lot, the Liberation Beech or Napoleon's Beech on the "Alten Voss" near Berlingen.                                                                                 Clinging to the old volcano, it has defied wind and weather for centuries and is reluctant to reveal its secrets and experiences. The way to it leads through a juniper heather near Pelm and depending on the season there is also a flora worth seeing and worth protecting. On the Trails of the Railway from Gerolstein to Hillesheim - between Dohm and HillesheimThis year we will hike approximately 10 km along the former route between Dohm and Hillesheim. Along the way, Helmut Bell and Manfred Jehnen from the Jünkerath Railway Friends will share the history of the line. The geological conditions of soil formation, the sometimes changing anthropogenic interventions and today's care of the protected natural area can be traced in the field.
