Landscape hike with the "Volcano Gardeners" of the Eifelverein through the volcanic village of Steffeln to the Steffeln Volcano Garden. The former lava mining at the Steffelnkopf has decimated the volcanic cone, which used to be more than 600 m high. This exposed the volcanic layers inside. The exposed volcanic vent was converted into an experimental and educational volcano. Hocheifelweg 3. Etappe Hillesehim - Niederehe mit dem Eifelverein Gerolstein

We explore the 3rd stage from Hillesheim to Niederehe. The 11 km long tour is considered easy. We start in Hillesheim and reach the Schwedenschanze. After a short break, we continue through Berndorf and Kerpen to Niederehe. A visit to the monastery church is worthwhile before we conclude the hiking day with a rest. The ride to/from Gerolstein costs 3 € per person.
