„Der Medicus vom Orient“ Freilichtaufführungen auf der Löwenburg Gerolstein

Dear friends of the Burgschauspieler,

It's that time again - in August 2024 we warmly welcome you to our living room at Löwenburg Castle.
This year, "The Medicus of the Orient" is coming to us.

The Medicus, his assistant Josephine and the decoy Leopold are swindlers who take money out of people's pockets by tricking them into believing that they can cure them of their illnesses and other ailments with dubious ointments, drops and the like. The trio travel from place to place in a covered wagon. They only stay for two or three days at a time. Then they have to leave because the scam is exposed and the ground becomes too hot for them. The disaster takes its course when the miracle healer comes to the attention of the princely couple Siegesmund and Sieglinde zum Hohenzinken. The princess has an ultra-long, ugly nose, from which she suffers greatly. The Medicus is to free her from this terrible affliction and help her to get a small, pretty nose. He receives a large advance payment.

How the story continues, what funny complications still happen and whether everything ends well is not revealed. Come and see for yourself...

As always, many actors, extras and especially children are needed for open-air performances to bring life to the stage. So anyone who would like to play theatre with us is very welcome. And backstage, in the set-up and with the props, we also need a lot of help.

Tickets are now on sale for this year's play "Der Medicus vom Orient", a medieval comedy as open-air theatre at Löwenburg Castle in Gerolstein.

Tickets at a price of €12.00 for adults and €8.00 for children are available at www.ticket-regional.de, at the tourist information centres in Gerolstein, Hillesheim and Stadtkyll, Reisebüro Busch in Rondell and at the box office.

The Burgschauspieler Gerolstein are looking forward to a large audience as well as many familiar and new players.

The fair in Stadtkyll traditionally invites you to visit on the third weekend in August. From Friday, 16 August to Sunday, 18 August 2024, the Stadtkyll fairgrounds will take place this year on the fairground square (Kyllwiesen). Die Kulturinitiative Hillesheim eröffnet bereits die 7. Ausstellung in diesem Jahr Dieses Mal jedoch in Verbindung mit Aquarellmalereien des Gerolsteiner Künstlers Alwin Hebermehl. Die Fotografin Birgit Wagner und der Fotograf Peter Niemann leben ebenfalls in Gerolstein. Sie zeigen hauptsächlich Impressionen, die sie von ihrer gemeinsamen Reise ins winterliche Finnland mitgebracht haben. „Es war ein langgehegter Wunsch winterliche Birken zu fotografieren“, so Peter Niemann, „aber wir haben noch weitere aufregende Motive auf unserer Reise vom Osten in den Westen Finnlands entdeckt.“ Birgit Wagner verknüpft in ihren Arbeiten verschiedene Motive miteinander. Mehrere Fotos werden übereinander gelegt und zu neuen, überraschenden Werken zusammengefügt. Vernissage: 19.
