Willi Basalt is the likeable family figure of Gerolsteiner Land and accompanies vacation guests of all ages on their journey of discovery through the Volcanic Eifel. He introduces himself here and shows what families can experience in the region.
Hello, I'm Willi Basalt and I live in Gerolsteiner Land.
My job is to introduce families with children in particular to the volcanic past and the many exciting excursion destinations in our region. At 1.70 meters tall, I can be found in many places in Gerolsteiner Land - wherever there is something for children to discover.
Why is my name Basalt ?
Basalt is a genuine primary rock that was brought to the earth's surface by volcanoes. Volcanic activity has shaped our unique and varied landscape. In Gerolsteiner Land, you can experience this fiery past up close, for example at volcanoes, maars, bubbling springs and in ice and millstone caves.
Adventure for the whole family
Numerous castles, adventure playgrounds, animal parks, adventure trails, a growing waterfall and many cycling and hiking trails ensure a varied vacation. Willi Basalt shows you and your children where things are particularly exciting.
