Martina Hefter
Hello, good morning, how are you?
Roman

Germany's "Novel of the Year 2024": according to critic opinion, Martina Hefter has written it with "Hello, good morning, how are you?" She received the "German Book Prize" for this in mid-October, awarded for the 20th time in 2024. With strong media response and significant sales effect: by early December 2024, 13 print editions and 150,000 copies had already been sold. Translation rights have been sold in eleven languages. 197 titles had been submitted for the book prize.

What it is about: the everyday life of a financially precarious writer couple in Leipzig. About the wife's care for her sick husband - and about con artists who operate on the internet, contacting lonely women worldwide and pretending to offer them love. Ultimately, they only have their money in mind. Which is where they have met the wrong writer… For the author Daniel Kehlmann, Hefter's book was the most important novel of 2024: "There hasn’t been a more deserving winner of the German Book Prize in a long time." (Süddeutsche Zeitung, 27.12.2024)
