Führungen des Stadtarchivs „zwischen den Jahren“

At 2:00 PM, the “City Tour Along the Old City Wall” will start. Peter Horsch will explain the course of the medieval city wall below the Löwenburg, which is still visible in some places in the Gerolstein old town.The meeting point is at the Old Town Hall, Main Street 72. Following this tour, the “Historical City Walk”, which has been signposted in the city area this year, will be presented from 3:30 PM in the exhibition room of the city archive (Main Street 39) in “virtual form.” The presentation will showcase and explain approximately 20 sites that are of particular significance to Gerolstein's city history.Duration is approximately 60 minutes each,cost contribution per person is 3 € each or 5 € for both events.The two offerings are also aimed at “old Gerolsteiners” visiting their hometown over the holidays. The Gerolstein railway depot opens its doors on the weekend and offers a colorful program featuring live music, culinary offerings, and exciting insights into the historical site. You can see, among other things, the turntable, water cranes, and historical as well as newly built buildings. A special highlight is the Adler – a replica of the oldest steam locomotive in Germany – which will be visiting and conducting shuttle rides from the railway depot. Look forward to an informative and sociable experience.

On the Trails of the Railway from Gerolstein to Hillesheim - between Dohm and HillesheimThis year we will hike approximately 10 km along the former route between Dohm and Hillesheim. Along the way, Helmut Bell and Manfred Jehnen from the Jünkerath Railway Friends will share the history of the line.
