The start and finish of the approximately 50 km long road bike tour is Gerolstein – nestled in the fascinating landscape of the Vulkaneifel. Right at the start, it is worth making a detour to the Erlöserkirche church and the Helenenquelle spring in the spa gardens. The route continues through Lissingen, where the first historical highlight awaits in the form of Oberburg and Unterburg Lissingen. Via Büdesheim and Schwirzheim, the route takes you through open fields and quiet villages to Gondelsheim and on to Kleinlangenfeld.
A geological highlight awaits you in the Steffeln volcano garden. Here, you can experience the volcanic history of the region in an impressive way. You should also visit the Wahlhausen chapel high above Steffeln. On the way back towards Gerolstein, you pass through Oberbettingen, Niederbettingen and Dohm-Lammersdorf. A special tip: the Rockeskyller Kopf, an extinct volcano, is a must for nature lovers. The route also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine. Numerous cosy places to stop for refreshments invite you to take a break along the way.
Shortly before your destination, it is worth stopping at the Kasselburg Eagle and Wolf Park before returning to Gerolstein, where the imposing Gerolstein Dolomites and the Löwenburg ruins provide a fitting conclusion. A tour that perfectly combines nature, history and sporting challenge!
