Schienenbusfahrt des Museumsbahnhofs

Special trip from Ahütte via Trier and Merzig to Lake Losheim to the Museum Railway Club Losheim, which will welcome the participants with a lunch break and then guide them through its railway facilities with various steam locomotives and other exhibits. Replacement bus service between Ahütte and Trier as well as between Merzig and Losheim am See, with a journey on the original railbus series 798 along the Saar route and through the Mettlach Tunnel between Trier and Merzig. Nostalgic rail bus ride along the Saar route with panoramic views in all directions and the over one-kilometer-long Mettlach Tunnel. We start around 12:15 PM from Trier Central Station and travel to the museum railway in Losheim am See. However, since their track is closed between Merzig and Losheim am See, a replacement bus service is offered on this section. At the destination station, there is a small refreshment (goulash soup with bread, included in the ticket price) as well as cold drinks available for purchase before the dedicated railway enthusiasts tell us about their facilities and vehicles (including steam locomotives) and their efforts to resume tourist operations. After that, we return by bus to the rail bus and back to Trier. Ticket price is 109 EUR, participation only by prior registration and as long as seats are available. Of course, there is also a "shuttle" for this special trip from Ahütte station: We start early in the morning around 8 AM from the museum station (with the possibility to board in Wittlich Central Station upon arrangement) and first travel to the operating area where an introduction to the rail bus technology takes place, and participants are right there when the vehicle is started and prepared for its journey. This upgrade including bus shuttle to/from Ahütte and a "behind-the-scenes" look costs 39 EUR per person.
