Day hike through the Wirfttal nature reserve south of Stadtkyll past Haus Wirfttal, Schönfelder Mühle and the forests around Stadtkyll.

Day hike through the Wirfttal nature reserve south of Stadtkyll past Haus Wirfttal, Schönfelder Mühle and the forests around Stadtkyll.

Starting from the church square at the parish church, the hike leads first through the main street and then through Wirftstraße in a southerly direction to the lower reservoir in Wirfttal. From here we use the separate footpath along the reservoir and then through the campsite of the Landal holiday park, to the road to Schüller. We pass the nature experience house "Haus Wirfttal", where we enjoy a beautiful view of Stadtkyll, the Wirfttal and the holiday park. We reach the road to Schönfeld, which we follow for about 4 km uphill to Schönfeld. In Schönfeld, the path leads past the local chapel into the Neuer Weg, which we follow straight ahead into the Stadtkyll forest. At the Mühlenhof, you can admire the alpacas. Afterwards, we walk through the idyllic Selbach Valley downhill to Stadtkyll and back to our starting point.
