Description
The hiking trail leads along small paths and wide trails through the forest and offers a beautiful view from the Eifelblick Hasenberg.
Starting from the parish church in the town center, the SY 7 hiking trail leads steadily uphill into the Arenberg forest. The trail, which is partly path-like and requires sure-footedness, has a high proportion of easily accessible forest path passages. The forest trails lead through a variety of high spruce stands, clearings and deciduous forests. Behind the bridge over the B51, there are several ponds to the left of the path where frogs and other aquatic creatures can be found.
A special highlight along the way is the Eifel-Blick Hasenberg above Stadtkyll with its peace cross. From this highest point of the circular tour on the Hasenberg, hikers can enjoy a beautiful view of the Kyll valley as far as Feusdorf and Esch. There is a plaque explaining the Eifel view in the adjacent refuge. Another highlight of the tour is the former war memorial for the dead of the First World War 1914/18. The gate building with the three crosses was erected in 1934 and can be visited all year round.

From the church square, we walk along the main road to the pharmacy, where we turn into Waldstraße and follow the path for approx. 200 metres before taking the nature trail uphill to the left through dense spruce forest to the cross-country road to Kerschenbach. Once there, we cross the B 51 and turn left into the dense forest immediately after the road bridge. We follow the forest path for approx. 2 km until we reach a road crossing the forest, where we turn left. Passing the Kalkerheck house and the Arenberg forester's lodge, we reach the slip road to the B 51 after approx. 2 km. Caution: We cross under the main road and turn left onto the field path after approx. 100 m after the bridge. After approx. 1 km we reach the Hasenberg, the highest point of our circular tour. After a further 500 metres, we come to the Eifelblick Hasenberg with its refuge and peace cross. From the Eifelblick, the route descends to the lime tree avenue to the left, which leads to the former war memorial of the local community of Stadtkyll. In front of the memorial, we take the downhill steps on the right, turn left and then right again and after a few metres reach the local sports facilities. We cross the schoolyard of the Stadtkyll primary school to reach the market square and then the church square, our starting point.
The ascent to the Hasenberg is partly via a narrow hiking trail, which can be slippery and slippery in wet weather. Carry a rucksack with drinks, provisions and a mobile phone. For your own safety, please stay on the designated paths at all times.
