On the Trails of the Railway from Gerolstein to Hillesheim - between Dohm and HillesheimThis year we will hike approximately 10 km along the former route between Dohm and Hillesheim. Along the way, Helmut Bell and Manfred Jehnen from the Jünkerath Railway Friends will share the history of the line. It ran from Kleve on the Dutch border southward to the Swiss border. The facility was constructed by the Nazis between 1936 and 1940. Our hike leads to numerous remnants (bunkers, tank trenches, dragon's teeth) of the Westwall. Under the expert guidance of a mushroom expert, we offer interested participants, including children, a mushroom hike in the forests of the Gerolstein region. After an assessment and identification of mushrooms, a "Eifel Mushroom Pan" will be prepared on an open fire with wood. The start is at 1:00 PM. The mushroom search lasts about 2 hours.
