Berlinger Nature Trail
The Berlinger Naturspur takes you on a varied loop through the charming countryside surrounding the small Eifel village of Berlin-gen. Starting from the village, the route first follows the Berlinger Bach stream and winds through the idyllic valley before gradually gaining elevation. Above the village, the “XXL Bench”—visible from afar—marks the first highlight of the hike. It’s worth taking a break here, as the view stretches far across the rolling volcanic Eifel to the nearby Kasselburg. Not far away, the route reaches the summit area of the extinct volcano “Alter Voss.” Here you’ll also find the “Befreiungsbuche” (Liberation Beech), Berlingen’s landmark. The trail then heads back downhill. As you pass lava quarries, the landscape’s volcanic past becomes immediately apparent.
