Description
This educational circular trail takes you through the picturesque landscape of Gönnersdorf. Learn more about the village's history and enjoy breathtaking views.
The leisurely hike around the village of Gönnersdorf attracts visitors with its nature trail and magnificent views of the Kyll Valley and the Volcanic Eifel.
The circular route around Gönnersdorf takes you through the village and then up to the heights. From there, you have wonderful views over the landscape. Along the way, you will pass several stations on the educational trail about the history of the village and its landscape.
Old forms of land use and their influence on the diversity of flora and fauna in the cultural landscape are shown on seven boards at special locations. In the pavilion of the redesigned village square, interesting information on village ecology is provided on illustrative boards. The stations: 1. nature and history, 2. wild bees, 3. iron ore, 4. water meadows, 5. limestone quarry, 6. water, 7. hornbeam
The unique Möschelberg, Mäuerchenberg, Hirdenberg and Pinnert nature reserves are located in the Gönnersdorf district. The legendary natural monument "Hippelsteinchen" beyond the edge of the village of Gönnersdorf is considered the most unique dolomite rock in the district of Daun. It stands in the middle of flower-rich calcareous grassland.

With the village pavilion behind us, we turn left and follow the main road, turning left shortly afterwards into Kapellenstrasse. Past the chapel, we turn into Gartenstrasse at the next crossroads and follow this until we reach the main road. Now take a sharp left towards the cemetery. Shortly before this, we keep left and follow the gravel path. Here we come across one of the information boards on village ecology. Later, we cross the road Zum Kylltal and follow the road Auf dem Wickchen. At the turning chamber, we climb the steps on the left and come to Jünkerather Straße. We follow this road to the right for approx. 500 metres and leave it to the left, uphill on a gravel path. At the entrance to the village, we keep right and follow a meadow path uphill towards the sports field. Shortly before this, we turn left onto a dirt track and then continue uphill on the tarmac path. We leave the sports field and settlement on the right and follow the path along the edge of the forest.
Enjoy the view over Gönnersdorf from up here! The path ends in a wide forest track. At Achelshof, we keep to the right and follow the tarmac path.
At the top, turn left and then after a while turn left onto a meadow path towards Eifelblick. You can take a break at the Eifelblick seating area and take in the landscape.
We follow the meadow path downhill, keep right and reach a tarmac path again. Follow this downhill to the main road. Turn left here and after a few metres we reach our starting point.
Hiking in the Eifel is great fun if you are well prepared. Carry a rucksack with drinks, provisions and a mobile phone.
For your own safety, please always stay on the signposted paths. Take care. In autumn, pay particular attention to fallen leaves that cover uneven sections of the path. There is also a risk of slipping in damp and wet weather!
